10,000 Shot Club

"Teams are made from November to March but players are made from March to November". 

We are excited to bring back the 10,000 shot club and we are setting the bar high. The FL hoops club goal this year is to get 500,000 shots as a club. To accomplish this goal, we are asking everyone to help out. Below you will find a form to help track your shots this summer. We will be tracking shots from June 1st to September 30th. 

All players who reach their 10,000 shot milestone will earn a shirt with the names of all players who reached their goal of 10,000 shots, have an opportunity to come out on the varsity court at half-time, and will be entered into a drawing to win Timberwolves/Lynx tickets for you and your family. 

If you already have your own workout routine, please remember to include the following:

  • Twenty (20) form shots – start 3’ from the basket and think about your shot form (feet, legs, elbow, hands, release and follow through)
  • Ten (10) block shots from each side of the hoop
  • Thirty (30) free throws (younger grades can adjust the line as needed) Best shot when you’re tired to simulate a game situation
  • Ten (10) shots in the paint
  • Ten (10) elbow shots from each side
  • Make a move to the basket, 1-2 dribbles, ten (10) on each side, and shoot the layup working on your footwork. Practice inside foot rip to the ear, inside hand, 2 foot, stretch, and other finishes. Make sure you create space with your dribble. Use a folding chair as a defender and work on your jab steps, rips, and step-throughs to beat the defender.

Remember to always practice at game speed. Use backspins to simulate receiving a pass.

If you’re at a basketball camp or forget to track your shots, here is a good rule of thumb:

  • 150 shots for 1 day at a regular basketball camp
  • 250 shots for 1 day at a shooting camp
  • 25 shots for every 15 minutes while shooting by yourself

Please turn your shot tracking forms into your boys or girls coordinators by Friday, October 16, 2021.
