Calling all Hoops Club teams: If you placed at a tournament (first, second, third, or consolation) or gave back in some way to the community, we want to recognize your accomplishments and acts of goodness.

Hoops Club apparel store is now re-open for holiday orders. It will close on November 16th to ensure deliver before the holidays. Orders will be delivered to your child at a practice.
If you are ordering a gift, write a note in the comment section when ordering. Also let your child's coach know so that they don't hand your child their gift and spoil the surprise.

If you haven't played traveling basketball before, we're guessing you have some questions about the season. We hope this list helps!
My kid is just now becoming interested in basketball. Do they need to be at a certain skill level to play traveling ball?
No! We encourage all skill levels to try out. Hoops Club is a great way for kids to develop their skills, have fun, and really grow in the sport.
What's the commitment for practices?
Teams practice two to three times per week at area schools (mainly Forest Lake High School and Middle School). We try to schedule earlier practices for the younger kids whenever possible. The latest practice time is 7:30-9 p.m. (again, we try to reserve these later times for seventh and eighth graders).
How far do you travel for tournaments?
Teams typically have one out of town tournament determined by their coach (popular spots include Brainerd, Rochester, Duluth, St. Cloud). The remainder of tournaments are in the Twin Cities metro.
How many tournaments are there?
Second and third graders will participate in the MYAS 3rd grade league.
Fourth graders have eight tournaments total; fifth through eighth grade have 10. Several tournaments are one-day only.
How long is the season?
Tryouts are in September. The season runs from mid-October through mid-March.
How much does it cost to register for the season?
Season registration is $400 for second-fourth grade and $450 for fifth through eighth. Payment plans are available.
Will I have to pay to get into tournaments?
Many tournaments are moving away from admission. The few that still charge at the door collect anywhere from $8-10/person.
Do I have to volunteer a lot?
Parents are required to fulfill one "dibs" spot per child in our local Freeze basketball tournament, which will be held January 17-18, 2026.
When are tryouts?
Tryouts will take place in on September 8th and 9th for the girls and the 10th and 11th for the boys. Please see the calendar for more specific time and location details.
What if I have additional questions?
Contact Neil Cooper, Hoops Club president, or Chris Serritslev, VP, at neil@flhoopsclub.org or chris@flhoopsclub.org.
